You see, it's not like many other professions where you can undertake a training course, wether it be a University degree, or a few weeks of on the job training and then be let loose to 'crack on' (hopefully under the watchful eye of a good manager)... Photography is a whole different animal. Even the world's greatest photographers are constantly learning, constantly assimilating and developing new techniques; Even more so in the digital age in which we operate, where technology is advancing so quickly that only those with the budget of Sir Richard Branson could hope to stay abreast of it!
The only real answer we can give to the question is to practise, practise and practise some more. Then get out and 'do' some real photography...
If you are thinking of 'becoming' a photographer then keep your eyes on the Williams and Grey blog over the coming months; we've got a whole bunch of Tutorials, Kit Reviews & Hints and Tips which will help you on your journey to making money from your camera and finally being able to call yourself a photographer.
Until next time, happy shooting & take care,
Matt
